Board President

W. R. (Bill) Byrd, PE

President, RCP Inc.

Bill Byrd is founder and president of an engineering firm headquartered in Houston. He grew up in Dothan, AL, and began his career in Pensacola in the 80’s after graduating from Georgia Tech.

He and his wife Holly had a sailboat at the Rod and Reel Marina (the location of the current Southwind Marina), and sailed Big Lagoon on the weekends long before there were any high rise condos in that area. After moving away from the area in 1985, they routinely returned for family vacations.

They are now happy to own property at Snug Harbour in the area they know and love while Bill perfects his offshore fishing skills and Holly attends every type of athletic event she can at Auburn.

Dave Williams

Secretary

Dave Williams is enjoying retirement with his wife Karen. When he is not working part-time as an online Facilitator for Federal Project Management courses, he keeps his pilot skills up, spends time in a local music studio, enjoys luncheons with social clubs or takes his 82 Corvette to car shows around Pensacola.

Every day, Dave and Karen wake up and look at the beautiful Grand Lagoon and Gulf of Mexico it makes them feel like they are on vacation.

John Wood

Owner

John Wood is a retired Army officer and former professor. John served more than 28 years in the United States Army, retiring as a Colonel. He started his career as an Armor officer, and served in command and staff billets in Korea, Europe, and the United States, including two tours in the Pentagon. John’s final military assignment was as the Senior Director for Afghanistan at the National Security Council, The White House, during the George W. Bush administration. Following retirement from the Army John was a professor of strategic studies.

John is originally from Maryland and grew up sailing and fishing on the Chesapeake Bay. His wife Laura is a New Jersey native. They moved to Pensacola in 2019 and to Snug Harbour in 2025 and love it here. They have three children scattered across the U.S. (Northern California, Boston, and Seattle) and four grandchildren. They enjoy the beaches of the Emerald Coast and fishing and boating in the Gulf – when they aren’t traveling to see the grandchildren!
